Popular iPhone app from jobs.ch: Downloaded over 30,000 times in the first month

The biggest online job platform in Switzerland initiated mobile access a month ago and has been highly successful with it. The iPhone app from jobs.ch has already been downloaded over 30,000 times. It gives jobseekers convenient access to more than 30,000 vacant positions from anywhere at any time.

Among jobseekers, the new iPhone App from jobs.ch is the most popular app in Switzerland. During the four-week pilot phase, it was downloaded more than 30,000 times and was in the Top 25 of free apps in Switzerland. In that same period, over 1,200 new members used the app to register directly with jobs.ch. That is nearly 12% of all newly registered members. During the pilot phase, more than 250,000 searches were carried out using the iPhone app and 42,000 job ads were viewed. The most frequent keywords in the searches were “logistics”, “lawyer” and “administrator”.

Smartphones surpass PCs

Members of the “Generation Now” are highly mobile and always online. With a mobile phone, they have access to the internet, their gateway to news, entertainment and the world of work. The Mobile Internet Report from Morgan Stanley* predicts that by 2014 more users will access the internet from mobile phones than from stationary PCs. “Jobseekers obviously want to access our platform on the go and independently of an office PC. Staying close and responsive to customers is a top priority for us. That is why we have adapted our offer to fit this need. With this app, we can also reach passive jobseekers,” Mark Sandmeier, CEO of jobs.ch, noted.

The free iPhone app from jobs.ch painstakingly searches the most extensive collection of published job vacancies in Switzerland. It is all fast, simple and well laid-out. With the app, users have full access to the jobs advertised at the jobs.ch portal. They can save and manage searches and filter the results based on keywords and regions, position, type of employment and sector. Using the app, jobseekers receive new job notifications every day. They can view original versions of interesting ads and save them in lists. One highly convenient feature allows users to register with jobs.ch directly in the app without accessing the portal from a desktop PC. Users create a profile they can then use to log into the desktop version. New members receive job notifications via the app and as e-mails.

Mark Sandmeier: “Our initial experiences with the new app have been extremely encouraging and have prompted us to expand and further develop innovative services of this kind.” Following this app for the iPhone, the most popular smartphone in Switzerland, the company plans to release apps at a later point in time for iPads, Blackberries, and the Android operating system.
