jobs.ch ag grows by 50 percent in 2011 and keeps expanding its lead in the Swiss online job market

jobs.ch ag reports record year 2011 and the creation of 25 jobs

The leading online recruiting company on the Swiss job market can look back on the most successful year in its more than ten-year history. In 2011, jobs.ch ag reported a 54 percent rise in customer orders against the previous year, to CHF 55.6 million. The number of visits to the website increased by 29.2 million (1) in 2011, a rise of about 23 percent against the previous year. About 10 percent of the visits already come from mobile job searches via smartphones. In 2011 jobs.ch again managed to significantly expand its position as Switzerland’s leading online job market.

In 2011 jobs.ch posted record figures in all indicators relevant for industry comparison: incoming orders, number of visitors, reach. This also applies to the number of advertised positions, which increased by about 27 percent compared to the previous year. In the last financial year the company created 25 new jobs and increased its number of employees in Zurich and Lausanne to about 100.

jobs.ch ag is planning further investments and services for mobile job search
The company has not only recognised social media as an opportunity – it is also on the road to success in the “mobile apps” area. About 10 percent of the traffic on www.jobs.ch comes from mobile internet use, specifically from smartphones. iOS devices, such as iPhones, iPads or iPods, form the largest share. For 2011 alone, jobs.ch reports 43,000 downloads of its iPhone app and 4.2 million search requests for job offers using the iPhone app. “It’s clear that the mobile job search is satisfying a strong demand, and we are expecting further vigorous growth. That’s why we at jobs.ch are focusing keenly on offering the best possible job search experience via smartphone,” explained Mark Sandmeier, CEO of jobs.ch ag. A completely renewed version of the iPhone app became available in early February 2012. New apps for iPads and android devices plus a web app for all other smartphones will follow in the course of this year.

jobs.ch expands its market lead through strategic and innovative cooperation
The company again systematically pursued its expansion strategy in 2011. As a result, jobs.ch took over the platform www.topjobs.ch from Switzerland’s largest online classified ad market, Scout24 Schweiz AG. With this step the company was able to position itself as the market leader in the Swiss online executive market. Scout24 Schweiz AG, operator of the platform www.jobscout24.ch, handed over its contract customer business to jobs.ch ag. Since then, jobs.ch ag has been marketing the job portals www.topjobs.ch, www.jobs.ch, www.jobscout24.ch and five vertical, industry-specific job markets, immensely increasing the number of jobseekers who can be reached by a single job advertisement.

Together with XING, the leading business network in the German-speaking countries, jobs.ch ag launched www.topjobs.ch in April 2011. As a Swiss premiere, www.topjobs.ch links the advantages of an online job market with those of a social business network. The job advertisements simultaneously appear on www.topjobs.ch, on www.jobs.ch and on www.xing.com. This new recruiting channel greatly increases the reach of the jobs advertised for professionals and executives.

“For us, 2011 was clearly characterised by strategic expansion and an extension of our offers for business customers and jobseekers. By taking over Topjobs and through close cooperation with Scout24, we managed once again to significantly improve the services for business customers. We were able to continue expanding our position as market leader, and we came another step closer to satisfying jobseekers’ needs through our offers in the social media and mobile internet areas,” says Mark Sandmeier. “I’m particularly pleased that we have hired 25 new employees. Our experienced team, which now totals about 100 motivated colleagues, is certainly the basis of our success.”

Prospects for 2012
jobs.ch got off to a good start in 2012. “The first two months went very well; the market is stable. We are sensing that the Swiss job market is persistently becoming more attractive,” says Mark Sandmeier. Against the backdrop of shortages in specialist and managerial staff, the international job market is also increasing in significance in Switzerland: more and more companies have to look for specialists abroad. jobs.ch is well aware of this situation and will remain committed to sensitising companies in Switzerland to the international and efficient recruitment of specialist and managerial staff.
